Art week and our visit to Bradford Synagogue

09 Feb 2023

One of our favourite weeks each term is our art week. We have spent a lot of time developing our drawing skills, focusing on perspective and shading. Mr Breckon isn't the best at demonstrating with art so we're very thankful to Miss Blake, Mrs Wicks and some You Tube tutorials for assisting us and making our work fantastic.

We used cross hatching to show depth and tone. Look at our mug shading; we thought our cross hatching looked very effective.

We have looked at pontilism and colour variation to, all of which we're hoping to apply to our landscapes. These landscapes are inspired by those creatured by David Hockney and his use of vibrant colours. Here we are putting in the lines to our landscapes.

Our pieces are not finished just yet, but we look forward to showing you them soon.

On Thursday we went on a trip to a Synagogue in Bradford. It's Bradford's oldest (and only) synagogue, dating back to 1880. It was a very special place to be and we're very thankful to 'Nigel', who gave us a tour and answered our questions.

Have a restful but fun-filled half term.
