Collective Worship - Friday 17th July

17 Jul 2020

Good Morning Everybody!

Thank you for joining me for Collective Worship today. smiley

Today is a very special day as it is the last day of the school year. It has been a very strange year, a school year like never before, but we have now reached the end and have the Summer holidays stretching out in front of us. laugh

Even though school has been very different since March, you have all achieved so much and should be very proud of how you have all carried on during the last few months. We are all very proud of you.

We have spoken a lot this week during Collective Worship about our feelings, and especially how we feel about September. Whether we are staying in the same class with the same teacher, or swapping classes and teacher or whether we’re moving schools; we will all be facing change.
It is absolutely normal to worry about the changes that are going to happen to you. You may feel nervous and scared or happy and excited. However you feel, I want you to make sure that you speak to somebody about it as there is always someone who can answer your questions and is there to help. This could be your parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, anybody you trust.

At both Fountains and Grewelthorpe schools, we are all very excited to welcome you all back in September. We can’t wait to see you all again and for us to be back together as our school family. We may feel nervous too, but we will talk to each other to make sure all our questions are answered and so we are comfortable and happy.

What is important to remember is that change often brings even more happiness… more opportunities, experiences, challenges, friendships, fun. So keep hold of that, you might find that you enjoy next year just as much as this year, if not more!

On that note. We are saying goodbye to our wonderful Year 6s today. They have experienced a lot of change while they have been at our schools, and they are proof that things just keep getting better! smiley

Both schools have produced a leavers video/ service and I think now is a good time to watch them.

To watch Fountains Leavers’ video go to the Fountains school news page and click on the ‘Year 6 leavers,’ and press play.

To see Grewelthorpe’s Leavers’ assembly go to the Grewelthorpe Class 4 page and select ‘leavers assembly’.

I hope you enjoyed them. I did. smiley

Year 6 children, we are so proud of you, and will all miss you lots.

Let’s finish with a prayer today.

Dear God,
Thank you for those around us and for the difference we can make to each other’s lives.
Please be with our Year 6 children as they start secondary school.
Thank you that you are always with us wherever we go.
Amen.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday, and we look forward to welcoming you back in September. smiley

Take care
Mrs Barker x
