Maps and atlases

22 Oct 2021

We spent a lot of time this week focusing on geography and mapwork skills. We have studied atlases and how to enhance our positional language to describe routes as well as familiarise ourselves with Britain's regions.

We then compared an atlas to an OS map and discussed the scenarios we'd use each map within. An OS map has much more refined detail and is presumed that someone will be spending some time in that area therefore will need to know more the facilities within in. So, we spent some time learning the OS map symbols and played a few games of bingo to practise the recall of them.

We tested each other afterwards to see how many we could remember.
