Teachers in need

15 Nov 2024

We've been studying what seaside resorts have on offer and why we tend to prefer places like Whitby, Scarborough and Saltburn. We collected data from our families and inputted that data to generate some graphs

on Monday morning a veteran from another conflict came into school to remind us about the importance of remembering those lost in wars and to how we can learn from the past. The children asked some excellent questions and learnt a lot about what life was like during in the war years.

It's fraction season in maths and to help embed our knowledge of fractions and their equivalents, we investigated how we can identify fractions which are the same proportion but written differently. We used the fraction circles to test and check if our methods were correct.

And to mark 'Children in need' day, the school council planned a fund-raising event to try beat our previous record of £78 and I'm pleased to say smashed that record by doubling it! We all brought jars in which were entered into a tombola, some very interesting designs and contents with the jars, well done!

They also planned some games such as 'teachers in need' where the poor staff members' images were pelted with bean bags; they also had a Pudsey bear hunt in a ball pit, along with pin the eye-patch on Pudsey. Lots of fun had by all.
