The terrible Tudors

06 Oct 2023

We've been working really hard on our place-value understanding and have got so much better at it and fluent. Here we applying our knowledge to solve puzzles

We are now a good chunk of the way through our Tudors topic - we learnt about how Mary earnt the name 'Bloody Mary' and how she converted the country back to Catholicism.

Anyone who openly refused to accept the Catholic ways were known as heretics and sentenced to be burned at the stake. We considered how difficult that situation would have been for so many people and looked at how strongly people must have felt to accept their fate rather than convert. To help us, we created freeze-frames of some burning at the stake scenes, playing different characters and reflected on their opinions.

Finally, we also have had visits from two guest speakers over the past two weeks. A man from the humanist society and also Canan Matthew from Ripon Cathedral who both have very different views on religion. They came to share their views to enable us to better understand perspectives. It was very interesting hearing what they had to say.
