The highwayman

23 Feb 2023

Welcome back everyone. We jumped straight into finishing our art on Monday... the paint definitely had dried by the then so we could add our finishing touches. We've been studying landscapes and looking at the works of David Hockney for inspiration. These were some of his pieces we've been looking at.

These are our finished pieces; we think they look lovely and can clearly see Hockney's inspired them - well done class 4!

What a fitting landscape to show our landscapes off

In English we were presented with some mysterious items; items taken from a poem and we had to infer who the character(s) could be from within it. Here's a look at the items we saw.

Ribbons, horseshoes, secret notes and coins - who could they belong to?

When the wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
the moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon clouds seas
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,

We looked at those metaphors and used them to influence our imaginations and capture what our mind thought. We then also wrote our own settings based on these.

And finally in science, we've been having lots of (noisy) fun using the electrical equipment. We recapped simple circuits and learnt the properly scientific way of representing them. We also used motors, buzzers and switches to test out the effect they had on the brightness of bulbs.
