Separating colours

05 Nov 2022

We're beginning our science topics this half term and for one of them, light, Ripon Grammar School are coming in to share some really cool scientific investigations.

We started off by thinking about what enables us to see and how light is infact made up of colours which travel in straight lines and then reflects off a surface. We used a fancy machine (Sorry, I forgot the name blush) to beam the light out and see how it clearly is in straight lines.

We used a prism to bend the light, separating its colours. Our challenge was to angle the prism in a way which caused the light to separate and creating a rainbow.
