Countryside Live Day

17 Jun 2022

We went to Countryside Live Day on Tuesday. It was a chance to take part in all manner of activities which relate to farming and agriculture as well as some sporty workshops too.

We first looked at making structures from natural materials and tried to make the biggest but sturdiest shelter in a half-hour time.

This group's shelter comes complete with a catwalk so it would seem. What a load of prima donnas!

We also got to try out all manner of bicycles - Mrs Field and I had a go on a one-pedalled tandem which is much harder than it seems. having narrowly missed the perimeter fencing, we hung up our helmets and went back to photographing the occasion

We also got to watch a show with dancing sheep, believe it or not, one of whom enjoyed DJ'ing whilst another opted for head banging.

And finally, it's been a busy week in school but we did manage to focus on our evolution topic and look at some bizarre mixtures of animals and discuss how actually, despite looking incredible, they probably wouldn't survive in the wild due to their body shapes and features not suiting the environment or preying method.

Like this one - Looks impressive but how does it hunt? Does it eat mice? It's not going to be able to creep up on mice and follow their every movement with this great, big body and it certainly has the wrong-shaped mouth for a vegetarian diet.

Here we are deciding what the flaws would be with mixed animals

Happy weekend
