Dragon eyes

08 Oct 2021

This week we have been finalising our dragon poems, which will be ready to show next week. The poems are to serve as a warning to those who dare to disturb the dragon. The language should leave you with a chill and make you think twice. The class have worked exceptionally hard to refine their language and produce some excellent pieces.

As a treat, and to enhance our poems, we're going to make clay dragon eyes to accompany our work. We thought the eyes were the most menacing part about the dragon and would leave us fear-filled alone. Here's some examples of the eyes, which our very talented Mrs Spowart made.

These two are scary enough, let alone with one dragon eye each!

In maths we've been spending a lot of time securing our place-value knowledge, looking at tenths and hundredths and also what happens to digits when you multiply and divide them by 10, 100 and 1000.

And after all that hard work, we thought it appropriate to burn one of them at the stake.... well in Tudor times we might well have done. We've actually been learning about Tudor punishments; in particular punishments related to the quarrels between the changing Catholic and prodestant religions. We've learnt about how Mary 1st became known as Bloody Mary due to burning so many prodestants in her short 5-year reign. This poor girl must have got on the wrong side of the Queen (or teacher)

Have a lovely weekend.
