Good morning class 4 laugh

I hope you all had a good weekend. As we talked about last week, I’m going to be suggesting work for us to do on our class page each day. Please try to keep up with these suggestions – I promise I won’t work you all too hard!

Time table
P:e – 9am start
Maths
English
Reading plus

P.E – Joe Wicks, a fitness expert, is leading live p.e lessons on his Youtube channel each day. Let’s all follow along with him on this link. (highlight this link and paste into the web browser) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6r99N3kXME&fbclid=IwAR2YYO8DSRkepnwzNTuksmbXDUcJg7WhYibGuz2HG4_bStk-37ipg4DWGMQ&app=desktop

Maths – We’re going to start this week by recapping fractions. Remember fractions are showing you parts of a whole. You can split your whole into various groups and that’ll be your denominator (bottom part of your fraction) and then the top part of the fraction (the numerator) will tell you how many of those groups you have.

Finding fractions, let’s say your whole was 24 and you wanted to know ¾ of it then you’d split your whole (24) into four groups. Then you’d multiply one group by 3 (or you could just add it three times) Then you’d know what ¾ of 24 is.

This time, your whole is 24 again and it has been split into eighths. I want to know what 5/8 of 24 is. You’d again divide your whole (24) but this time into 8. This will tell you what each eighth is so you’d then multiply one group by 5 to find what 5 of those 8ths were (or you could just add 5 groups together)

Group one – you should have a page of fractions with a blue border around it. Please complete those by writing on the sheet. You can use a whiteboard or scrap paper to work them out if needed.
Group two – complete column C

I’d recommend level 8 or higher.

English:
Pronouns. Pronouns are words which are used to replace repeating names or the noun. For example: Peter went to visit John but John wasn’t in until 2pm so Peter had to wait 15 minutes for John to return. Peter and John then went to the park.
We have repeated Peter and John so many times that it feels repetitive and so you’d use pronouns to avoid that.
Peter went to visit John but he wasn’t in until 2pm so Peter had to wait 15 minutes for him to return. They then went to the park.
There are many pronouns. Pronouns can replace several names like ‘Jack and Daniel’ to we or them. Or they could replace one name like Tilly to me, or my. You also use the pronoun ‘it’ to replace nouns E.G - can you pick that pen up and pass it here? Using it saved me using the word ‘pen’ again.

Task -  Please read page 1 and find all of the pronouns. If you're not sure if it could be a pronoun or not then think, can you replace that word with the name/noun? If you can then it’ll be a pronoun. I could only find 14 crying, maybe you can find 15 yes? (Some of the pronouns are the same)
Then do page 2

Finally, complete one reading plus.

Enjoy the rest of your day,
Mr Breckon
