First day back

6th September 2019
On Tuesday we began our new school year as class 4! We've a busy year ahead and will be doing a lot of learning together, so we started the week off with some get-to-know-you games and some group challenges. The first challenge was to remove a jelly snake from a cup, without letting it fall and attach a 'life-jacket' (Haribo ring) around it which was under the cup. All this had to be completed only using a paper clip each, no hands! Lots of discussion and planning needed to solve this task.

We also spent some time thinking about other people's interests and designed birthday cards which can be given out through the year when someone has their birthday.
Later in the week we began our history theme, which is focused on the ancient civilisation of Egypt. We considered what we already knew and what we'd like to know. We studied images of the pyramids and asked the age-old question, how were they built? We also thought about why. The effort and time which went into building them must have had an extremely important reason, so we studied the Egyptian belief of the afterlife and rein acted the process of that journey.
