Digging

15 Sep 2023

This week we were very lucky to have a group of local archaeologists come in to work with the children. They told us all about what the area around us was like thousands of years ago. The children got a bit of a shock when they found out they would have been under a mile deep layer of ice! They also got to look at some stone age tools and think about what they might have been used for all of those years ago.

Later on the children got to have a go at working in a trench to see what they could dig up. We found some bits of glass and pottery, some fossils and some coal too. The children loved having a go at using the tools to slowly scrap away the layers and it was very exciting wondering what we might find next.

Once again, you have worked really hard this week, Class 3, and your attitude and effort have been amazing. I hope you all have a great weekend. smiley
