Friday 1st May

30 Apr 2020

Hello again!

It is Friday, well done for making it through another busy week!

Thanks for sending me all of the work you have been doing. There has been a lovely mix come through of everything from bug hotels to beautiful writing. It has also been great to see some of the extra things you have been doing at home to keep busy too. I'll start a new webpage to show off all of the amazing things we have been doing to have fun but which aren't school related because it is really nice to see what everyone has been doing. If you would like a picture to go up of anything else you have done (it could be playing the guitar, building a den or anything else) email it too me and I'll put it up. yes

Maths

First up today we shall have...let me think...maybe...yep, it is you, year 3s.

We have pretty much worked though our angles and turns work so we just have the "Review 12" section to do. You can skip the mind workout and go straight to that. It is a chance to re-cap and check what you can remember from the last week or so. If you are not sure about anything just have a look through your last few pages and it should hopefully jog your memory. I've put the answers below for you.

 Year 4

Hello, year 4.
We are going to carry on with our symmetry work, and Submarine group please do this too.

This is one on my favourite lessons to do and I'm heart broken I can't do it with you, I'm sure you'll do a great job without me though.

This is definitely one of those lessons where if you do the examples along with the book it will really help you.

If you can try each of these and see what happens.

Next do pages 141 and 142 in your books, please. Again, if you are stuck try making the shape and folding it to see what happens. This can be tricky and it can take a bit of getting your head-round to see what is happening, but be patient and you clever people will get there. yes
(Submarine people, please do this activity too, you can record the answers in your maths books).

English

For our English we are going to finish the week with a bit of grammar to help us to keep our writing looking great. In your packs you should hopefully have a sheet that looks like this....

If you are a year 3 please do one sentence for each section, and year 4 please do two. yes

Please complete the sheet and remember capital letters and full stops too. I've also put a list up of essential spellings, so when you have finished please take two minutes to go back and make sure that you have checked the words on the sheet are spelled correctly if you can see them in your sentences. There are a lot of words on there but it is worth taking a few minutes to see what is on the list and you can keep this as a useful mini dictionary too.

There are a few sheets here to help if you need a hand. yes

Afternoon.

To start off with if you haven't done your spelling test and daily reading, please do those first. After that see if you can complete your bug hotel if you haven't done that already.

This is it, the last thing to do before the weekend....

I thought after a long week it would be nice to finish with a bit of art and do some some drawing. Have a look at the artist below (click on his name and it will take you to a Google page showing his art work (as always, check with a grown-up if you are going on the internet). Next, think of your favourite animal and see if you can draw it in the same style. I can't wait to see your wonderful pictures! You could use paint, pencils, anything you have.

 Let’s Create:
Explore the artist Franz Marc. Find out who he was and what type of artist he was. What did he like to create pictures? Look at some of his paintings online. Then choose an animal to draw and add colour to, in a similar style to his. What do you think of his paintings? Did you like your finished piece of artwork? Why?/Why not?

Well done for working very hard on this week and I hope you have a great weekend, and please say a big thank you to your grown-ups for all of the help and support they have given you this week.

Please wait
