Good morning!
I hope you had a great half term and managed to do lots of fun things in the sunshine. The weather has been lovely and hot and I hope you were able to find a chance to go outside and enjoy it.
You might notice one or two slight changes to the website today. From now on I will be doing the website for Fountains year 3/4 class on a Monday and Tuesday too, so some things might look a bit different at first. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I will be just doing our class page though so it will be back to normal then (complete with the bad jokes too - you have been warned 
).
Spellings
This week please choose another 5 -10 of the Year 3/4 Common Exception Words. (You can use your workbook for this.) Then please practice using the usual look - cover - write - check approach
Maths
Today we are going to work on our times tables and make sure that we are keeping those quick and sharp. Please start off by completing 5 goes on Rockstar maths.
You might have found that there is a table that you find harder than some of the others and that you need a bit of extra work on. We are going to use that table in our next activity to help us to remember it better.
Below are some examples of multiplication flowers. If you look carefully you will see that the number of the table you want to learn is written in the middle, and then numbers are written on the petals - can you see the connection between the numbers?
After you have made your flower you could use it to help you remember your tables, and you could ask someone to test you too.
You might want to put your flower up somewhere in your house so that you can practice when you walk past it.
If you wanted to and wanted a bit of a challenge you could try doing square numbers instead, and writing those on the petals. Some brave people might even want to try cube numbers - watch out though, they get very big!!
English
For out English work today we are going to look at a short film about a boy who finds a magic hat. You can watch the film by clicking on the link below.

Imagine that on returning to his house, the boy discovers another magical creature sleeping in his bedside drawer.
What type of creature could it be?
Could it be a combination of two or more different
creatures?
What different colours and patterns could it have?
How does it move?
What noise does it make?
Draw and label your creature. The labels should answer the
above questions. Make sure that you use thoughtful adjectives in your
labels.

Please don't foget to do your 30 minutes of daily reading too. 
Afternoon activities.
The afternoon ideas will be a bit different too. Below are lots of mini-projects that you can work on over the week, and how you want to do them is up to you. You might want to really focus on one in lots of detail and spend a few days on that, or you might want to try all of them. How you want to do them is up to you and you can do them in any order you would like to.
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about countries and cities around the world. Learning may focus on different cultures and traditions, famous landmarks, food and clothing.
● Virtual Explorer - What are the continents of the world? Where are they located? What languages are spoken in these continents? Ask your child to use Google Maps to explore a continent of their choice. Can they create a continent fact file or choose a particular country they are interested in and create an information guide including the weather, tourist locations, landmarks, weather, traditional music, food, flags.
● Mask Making - Ask your child to use paper or cardboard and a range of materials around the home to design and create their own African mask. Can they find out their importance to African culture?
● Dance Around the World - Use SafeYoutube to dance along to some different cultural dances from around the world, such as the Brazilian Samba, the traditional Diwali stick dance or the Spanish Flamenco. Your child can design a cultural costume for their favourite dance and label it with suitable materials.
● Speak the Language - Encourage your child to discuss with their family the links they and their family have to the wider world. Find out places family members have visited on holiday, work/business links or simply countries they would like to visit in the future. Have a go at learning some simple phrases in different languages from around the world and write the phrases using the colours of the flag for that country.
● Tribal Traditions - Ask your child to find out about the cultural differences, customs and traditions of an indiginous group/tribe from around the world such as the Maori people, Native Americans, the Yanomami tribe or the African Maasai tribe. Ask your child, why it is important indigious people are remembered? Can your child create some artwork inspired by one of the tribes?
