River visit

14 Nov 2024

This week we had a very special visitor - a river! As part of our topic work the Yorkshire Dales River Trust came to teach us all about the rivers around us. They showed us how rivers flow and change the landscape around them, and also talked about all the wildlife that can be found near rivers too.

We did say the river came to us and it did, or at least part of it. The Trust brought in some samples from the river Skell and we had the chance to look at the animals and creatures that lived in the water, and talk about how important it was to make sure that the water quality was high so the wildlife wouldn't be harmed.

Everyone loved having the chance to use the microscopes to look at the animals in more details and we learned lots of interesting facts to help us with our topic work. We also talked about how to stay safe around rivers which is very important too.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and see you next week.
