Welcome back!

07 Jun 2024

It has been great to see everyone again after the half term break and the children were all really happy to be back again (yes, really!).

We took part in lots of exciting things this week and we were very lucky to have a few visitors too.

Dr Krippner from Ripon cathedral came in to give a special presentation and told us all about this very special building. He also told us all about the amazing music that takes place there too, and even gave us a singing lesson and a chance to try out for the choir! It was an amazing opportunity and the children were all very eager to have a go.

Later in the week we had a visitor from the British Legion who came to tell us all about D-Day and why it is so important to remember it. The children listened very intently as they learned all about not just D-Day but life during the second world war too.

In between the visits we started our new science topic looking at plants and finding all of the different parts of a plant. It was not as easy as the children thought and some of the plants were a bit more tricky to describe than the children first thought! They loved the hands on lesson though and had some wonderful ideas and which parts were the stems and leaves, and how the plants reproduced too.

Just a quick note too. As the weather is (sort of) getting warmer the children are taking their jumpers off during breaktimes and one or two are getting mixed up. Please could you make sure you child's jumper is named and check in case they have accidentally picked up the wrong one so we can swap it back.

Hope you have a great weekend!
