First Aid

On Thursday Mr Atkinson from Sporting Influence came to school to teach us some very useful first aid skills. We learned all about how to check if someone is ok, and how to call for an ambulance if we needed one. It was a bit scary using the dolls at first, but the children quickly got the hang of things.
We learned how to check that the person was awake, and how to make sure their airways were clear too. Later in the session we learned how to put somone in the recovery position and roll them over.
Finally we moved on to putting on bandages. There were some interesting ways of tying the knots but after a couple of goes the children were able to tie bandages like professionals! I feel much safer in class now knowing that we have so many first aiders ready to help!
