Having a smashing time

This week we continued to look at our history topic studying ancient Greece. We had been wondering how people actually knew what life was like all that time ago. Then we realised that people used the arifacts that they had found from ancient Greece to help them.
The school budget didn't quite stretch as far as buying some real vases so we used some pictures instead. We pretended that the vases were so old that they had broken and that we needed to piece them together, just like real archaeologists. The children loved re-creating the scenes on the vases and we worked out that they showed us the events that took place in the original Olympic games!
It isn't just history that the children have been working really hard in though, they always work hard in every lesson (as you can see from these very thoughtful poses!).
There is always time for a bit of fun though, even in maths!
