First Aid Training

03 Feb 2023

This week we had a visitor in to teach us all about first aid. Neil from Sporting Influence came to school to spend some time with each class to talk about what do to in an emergency and how to help someone if they are in trouble.

We started off by looking at what should and shouldn't be in a first aid kit, and what each item is used for.

We then moved on to find out what to do if you found someone who needed help. We enjoyed this part as we got to use our acting skills to pretend to be hurt, and we also got to shout really loud to see if a passer-by would come and lend a hand.

Look at those acting skills! I think the Oscar is in the bag. laugh

Next came the part that the children had been looking forward to the most - the cpr! There were one or two nervous looks when the dolls came out (apparently they looked "really creepy" wink) , but the children soon got the hang of it.

Finally we learned how to put someone in the recovery position. The children were really good during the sessions and I feel a lot safer in class now that we have so many fully trained up helpers!
