It's Chriiiiistmas!

For the last week of term we have been focusing on our science topic and we have been finishing off our work on rocks and soils. We were going to go and collect our own soil samples to analyse but it has been below freezing all week and the ground has been so hard it might have bent our spades! We managed to get some soil though and left it to thaw out in the classroom. We never knew that soil could be make up of so many different parts. We had a great time using our observation skills to explore all of the different elements that were in our soil samples (plus we got messy which is always fun!).
We also continued our work looking at fossils and after discovering how they are formed we went even further and broke them down into three groups: actual remains, trace fossils and mineralised fossils. We loved looking at the shark and spinosaurus teeth, and even got to examine some fossilised turtle poo (luckily it didn't smell!
).
As if all of that wasn't enough we even managed to squeeze in our Christmas party too!
I hope you all have a great Christmas! You have been an amzing class to teach this term and we are all really proud of how hard you have worked. Enjoy your break and we'll see you next year!
