Farm visit

12 Nov 2021

This week has been a special week and we have been thinking about why we wear poppies and what they represent. We also talked about why it is important to remember those who have died fighting wars. The children made some beautiful poppies that we have put on display in the hall which you might have seen.

We also talked a bit more about how to reduce our carbon footprint and as promised last week here are the photos from our farm visit.smiley

It was an amazing day and we learned so much!
We explored the different fields and had a closer look at the soil underneath them. It turns out you can tell a lot about what was growing in the fields by looking at the soil. The carbon which is stored and used depends on what was growing there. Trees and hedgerows use a lot of carbon within the ground too. Not using unnatural pesticides and fertilizers means food can be produced organically which is better for wildlife, and of course reduces a farm's carbon footprint.
