Home learning for Thursday 21st October

20 Oct 2021

Good morning!

I hope you are all ok and feeling a bit better. Well done for keeping up with your home learning, you have all been superstars! As before, if you are feeling poorly don't worry about finishing everything and keeping up, just make sure that you are getting better and looking after yourselves.

My top book for today is "Lion Taming for Beginners" , by Claude Face.

Maths

In maths we will carry on with our takeaways. I've finally worked out how to put the videos in properly so all you have to do now is press play! Cool, eh! (What do you mean you're not impressed because Mrs Acheson has already been doing that for weeks? Oh well...)

English

For our English topic we are looking at creating and writing our own poems. For today's activity I would like you to have a go at creating an acrostic poem. This is where you write a word down the side of the page and then use each letter as the starting letter for the lines that go across (have a look at the examples below to see what I mean). Don't forget to use your amazing adjectives and exciting verbs to make is sound as good as you can.

If you check out the PowerPoint this will give you more information about how to create your poem. I've put some writing frames for you to use today, they are all Halloween themed (sounds fang-tastic doesn't it!?).

Art

For our art I thought we would do something a bit different. We were looking at Picasso earlier in the week and finding out about him. Have a look at the PowerPoint below to find out more about his life, and to see some of his most famous paintings too.

For the creative part of the afternoon I thought it would be fun to create some Picasso pictures with a bit of a twist! We are going to keep with our Halloween theme and create portraits of monsters in the style of Picasso. You can have lots of fun thinking about the faces of the creatures you have picked, and I can't wait to see them and guess which monsters you have chosen. There are some things below to help you if you need some ideas and I'm really looking forward to seeing your designs.
