Home Learning for Wednesday 20th October

19 Oct 2021

Good morning, Class 3. I hope you are all feeling a bit better today. The good news is that I'm starting to feel a bit better now, the bad news (or is that the "even better news?") is that now I'm better my top quality jokes are coming back too!

To start we will do our normal morning activites...

Maths

Today we are going to move on to looking at take aways (don't get excited, I don't mean pizzas and chips! cheeky) . As it has been a while since we have done this we'll start by re-capping what we have done before.

English

For your English today I would like you to work on your handwriting. The poem below isn't joined up as it has been printed. Please copy the poem out neatly using your best joined up handwriting. Afterwards you can decorate it if you would like to make it look amazing (or even spook-tacular!).

Topic

Back in school we talked about how important pottery is in helping us to understand what it was like in ancient Greece as the pictures on the vases showed us what happened back then. Today I would like you to have a go at creating your own Greek style vase. The PowerPoint below will give you some ideas for what to draw, as well as a bit more information about Greek pottery. This is a great chance now for you to show off what you have discovered about the ancient Greeks. Maybe you want to draw a picture of one of the gods and draw them and their symbols (it could be Zeus and his lightning bolts, or Poseidon in his underwater kingdom with his fishing spear), or maybe you want to do wise Odysseus and his battle with the cyclops. You could also do one showing what you know about the Olympic games, a mythical beast or even show some of the Hoplites in their armour. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

There are also a couple of design templates below to help you.
