Collective Worship
Good morning everyone and welcome to today's Collective Worship
Today we will be continuing our theme of "joy" and thinking about what it means to us.
On Monday Mrs Micklefield asked what joy means, and lots of people said that it means to be really happy.
Have a look at the video below and watch the story. The dog doesn't seem very full of joy at all at first, but then something happens.
Can you work out what changes and makes the dog happy and be full of joy?
At the end of the video all of the creatures are happy and it was all because of the kindness of the dog. He saw that that the bird wanted the worms to feed its chicks and it wanted to help. It didn't help to get something for itself , it helped because it knew that someone else needed that help. The bird was really happy now that it could feed its babies and so was kind back to the dog and gave it some fish which made the dog and its owner happy too. In the end everyone was happy and it all started with the dog being kind and unselfish.
When I was teaching Class 1 on Monday they said that the things that made them happy were playing with their friends, seeing their families and sharing what they had so everyone had something to play with. I thought that was a wonderful thing to say because joy is something that we can share too. If we are happy we can share that happiness with someone. If we are playing a really fun game we could share that and let someone else play too. If we are happy and have a great joke we should share that too and make someone else laugh. I wonder if you can spread joy today and make someone else happy?
What could you do to spread joy today?
What could you do to make someone else smile?
How does it make you feel to know that you have spread joy in the world and that you have made someone happy?
Now it is time to finish our Collective Worship and end with a prayer.
I hope you all have a lovely day today filled with joy and happiness.
