Good morning!
It's Friday, yay! Well done for making it through another busy week. I've been amazed by all of the fantastic work that you have sent in. You have all been stars and well done for working so hard all week. 
I'm also very happy that we can end the week with some great news. Thank you very much to everyone who sent their scores back for the athletics last week, I'm very pleased to say that Grewelthorpe came second out of 12 schools!!!! A huge well done to everyone who entered!!!!
Maths
As you know we have been working on our mental maths this week and we have saved the best until last.
Today I would like you to go to the website below and try out some of the games to help you with your tables (links for each game are below).

There are some other free ones on there too, but if you would like to try any of those please check with your grown-up to make sure they are happy for you to go on them (all of the ones in this section should be multiplication and division and have similar objectives).
Each game has the instructions on how to play and it has a screen that lets you decide which bit of your maths you would like to work on. If you click on Year 3 or Year 4 it will give you lots of different types of questions, or if you want to just work on one table or one area you can do that too. Please feel free to pick any area that you think you might want to work on. All of the games work in a very similar way so if you're not keen on football you might want to play the bowling one instead.
Some of the games even have a two player mode so you could play against someone else if you wanted some competition.
I'm sorry to say grown-ups that I kept losing to my 8 year old at the bowling game and I've let the side down, so feel free to play too and we'll see if the grown-ups can win after all. 
Most of the screens will look like this so check the boxes of the areas you want to work on, or click on a year group and it will give you all of the objectives for that year.
As with anything on the internet there is always a chance that it might not work tomorrow ( or today if you aren't living in the past like me), so if it doesn't then please go on Rockstar Maths or Sumdog or any of the other programs that you might use in school instead. I've tried it on a tablet, and on my pc and they both worked. If we cross fingers, touch wood and kiss any rabbits' feet we have knocking around then we could be ok!
English.
For your English I would like you to do your half an hour of reading, and then have a quick go through your spellings. Then when you are ready ask your grown-up to test you on your spellings and check your answers. Good luck and I hope we get lots of full marks!!
Writing
When you have finished that I would like you to think about what you can see out of your window and describe the view using all of the scene and setting describing skills we have used this week. If you wanted to use your imagination you could pretend it is a magic window that can see anywhere in the world, and you could Google a picture to help you think what to write (if you use the internet please check with a grown up though). Maybe you would like to draw the view and then describe it if that helps.
Afternoon task.
Please use the afternoon time to catch up on anything that needs finishing off this week.
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about countries and cities around the world. Learning may focus on different cultures and traditions, famous landmarks, food and clothing.
● Virtual Explorer - What are the continents of the world? Where are they located? What languages are spoken in these continents? Ask your child to use Google Maps to explore a continent of their choice. Can they create a continent fact file or choose a particular country they are interested in and create an information guide including the weather, tourist locations, landmarks, weather, traditional music, food, flags.
● Mask Making - Ask your child to use paper or cardboard and a range of materials around the home to design and create their own African mask. Can they find out their importance to African culture?
● Dance Around the World - Use SafeYoutube to dance along to some different cultural dances from around the world, such as the Brazilian Samba, the traditional Diwali stick dance or the Spanish Flamenco. Your child can design a cultural costume for their favourite dance and label it with suitable materials.
● Speak the Language - Encourage your child to discuss with their family the links they and their family have to the wider world. Find out places family members have visited on holiday, work/business links or simply countries they would like to visit in the future. Have a go at learning some simple phrases in different languages from around the world and write the phrases using the colours of the flag for that country.
● Tribal Traditions - Ask your child to find out about the cultural differences, customs and traditions of an indiginous group/tribe from around the world such as the Maori people, Native Americans, the Yanomami tribe or the African Maasai tribe. Ask your child, why it is important indigious people are remembered? Can your child create some artwork inspired by one of the tribes?

Thanks to everyone for all of the help and support you are giving the children, it is really appreciated. I know it is tricky trying to fit home schooling around working from home and it is not always easy to get all of the tasks completed but you are doing a great job. Thanks also for your patience while I am getting used to working with two websites.
