Thursday 14th May

13 May 2020

Good morning. smiley

I hope that you had a good day yesterday and that you maybe managed to get out to exercise and have fun a bit more. I finally managed to get out to play football and it was amazing! I thought I'd get get ready just in case Port Vale need me if the season re-starts. wink Every shot I had went in the hedge so I'd say I'm up to the right standard.

Thanks for the pictures of the games, they are coming along very well! I've put some pictures up of what you have all been up to, and as always if you want to share what you have been doing, please let me know.

Maths

This morning we'll crack on with our maths first, so lets see what we have to do. smiley

Year 3

For your maths today, please start with a few games on Rockstar maths, and then do two sound checks.

Today will be our last lesson on graphs for a while so we will finish the unit with a bit of a re-cap. This will be a chance for you to go back and have a last look at what we have studied this unit and go over any last points. There isn't an introduction for this, but if you are unsure maybe go back and have a look at the last few days on the website and that might help. I'll put the pages up I would like you to do and then the answers after (if you want to do the mind work out too you can but you don't have to). Good luck and don't forget to keep it neat. yes

 Year 4

For your maths today, please start with a few games on Rockstar maths, and then do two sound checks.

I have put the Maths No Problem sheets up for you to do and then I have put up some challenge sheets too. Feel free to look at both and decide which ones you would like to have a go at, so anybody in any group can try any sheet. smiley

When you have finished please check your answers and hopefully you will be able to give yourselves lots of ticks. yes

 English

For our English today we have a few activities to do. You can do these in any order you want to as well.

Can you make sure that you do your half an hour of daily reading (this doesn't have to be in one go, you could do two lots of 15 minutes if you wanted, and feel free to choose your own time to read too. I always like to read in bed before I go to sleep to help me relax. I thought I'd read a book on maths to help me in school, it is called "Addition Calculations" by Adam Up - sorry!).

We also need to work on our spellings so please practice your daily spellings and then go on WordShark for about 15 mins (hopefully this should level up with you as you go).

Our other activity is to work on our handwriting , and I've put a text for you to copy below. If you would like to find your own text then feel free to as long as it is about the same length. I've put the letter joins below as well in case you need a reminder.

As always with handwriting it is all about quality, not speed. Please take care with your letter formations and make it look beautiful.

 Afternoon activites

As we said at the start of the week if you want to finish off your games feel free to, or else you can have ago at the activity below...

The year 4s have been looking at position and movement and co-ordinates and we said about how this could link with maps. For your activity today I would like you to create , yep you guessed it, a map.

Maybe you would like to go on Google and see what your street or area looks like on there and use that to help you. Maybe you want to create a treasure map of a far off island, or maybe you want to really let your imagination fly and make a map of a magical land filled with unicorns and dragons. You could have lots of fun with this and draw  your farm, or draw dragons, or maybe even a farm with dragons (as long as they don't set fire to the barn!). It is up to you and I can't wait to see the results.

Have fun and enjoy your afternoon.
