Work for Thursday 26th March

25 Mar 2020

Hi Class 3!

Hope you are keeping up with the work ok, and thank you to the grown-ups who have been helping you too.

I saw some of your scary monsters from yesterday, they were really good! You worked very hard on them and there were some wonderful sentences to go with them. I've also seen a few of the beautiful rainbows that you have made, they will really cheer people up.

Here is our plan for today...

9 am - PE with Joe Wicks. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's session. I'm still cleaning the footprints off the wall from when I tried to do the wall jumps, Mrs Gamble was not very impressed when she got home from work. crying

Maths

Today we are going to work on our mental maths.  Please complete the worksheet/s for your year group and then go on Rockstar maths to improve your maths skills.

If you have a couple of dice and someone to play against though you could play the dice game we play in class.

Rules.

Pick a table you want to work on before you roll, eg x 6.

Roll a dice each and add the scores.

Multiply the total on the dice by the number in the table you have chosen.

Eg . Bob and Dave want to work on their x6 tables. They roll at the same time, Bob gets 3 and Dave gets 4. They add them together to make 7 and then times that number by 6. Whoever says the answer first wins a point.

* To make it harder you could multiply the two dice together and then times the answer by your table, or even add more dice if you want.

Year 3.

Please find the booklet with this cover, and then complete the two sheets below, then play Rockstar maths and/or the dice game.

(Some of you might have an extra "submarine" sheet in your learning pack for addition, please do that instead if you want.)

English

At parents' evening lots of grown -ups were commenting on how good your kennings* were so for our grammar revision I thought it would be good if you could write some for them. I've included the PowerPoint we looked at below and hopefully it will open if you click on the lin (Fingers crossed!) If not, if you scroll down I've included the key slides to help you. You could then challenge someone else in your family to see if they coudl guess what your kenning is about.

* (Note for grown-ups). A kenning is a riddle poem where you describe the subject, but  do not say what it is so the reader has to guess.

Afternoon activity.

Write your kenning up in your neatest joined up handwriting and then illustrate it with a wonderful picture.
