We have had another busy week in Class 1 . We read the stories Oliver's Vegetabkes and Oliver's Fruit Salad . The children enjoyed exploring a range of fruit and vegetables and were able to chop and cut , look carefully for seeds with magnifying glasses and make pretend stews and salads . The children made their own play dough this week - well done ! They made listening ears with Mrs Longstaff and went on a sound walk to find lots of different sounds . They made a very long list ! Great listening Class 1 ! I am sending the Reception children home with a sound book each . This shows you the sounds we are learning at school . Each page will show the letter ( it is the sound the letter makes we learn first ) It also shows the picture to help the child remember the letter sound ( the mnemonic ) The Pronunciation phrase helps ensure the child learns the correct sound ( for example S makes a sss sound not a su sound ) There is also a description of how each letter is formed . I hope sending these home is helpful. Children can draw some pictures or ask you to write any words they have found starting with that sound . There is a page per sound . If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask . It would be really helpful if the book can come to school each day and if you look through the book as often as you can at home . Daily for a few minutes is ideal . Have a super weekend 😊
