Friday 15 th May

14 May 2020

Storytime . Gracie The Lighthouse Cat . Click here to watch .I have also demonstrated the maths game and shown the worksheets on todays page .

Alphabet song . Click here to watch .

English Reception

Find the letter formation sheet in pack 3 with capital letters on . Can you sing the song and point to each letter ?
Capital letters are used at the start of a sentence and at the start of someone's name . They are also used at the start of a name of a place . For example Grewelthorpe .
Each letter of the alphabet has a name as well as the sound it makes . The alphabet song teaches us the names of the letters .The video shows you capital letters and also lower case letters ( the letters we have learnt to recognise )
Have a go at writing the letters in the top row of the sheet .

Look through your sound book .Complete the sheet in pack 3 . Fill in the letters to spell the words . The sheet has a picture of a fish , a duck, a ring etc with lines under each one . Sound talk the words first .

English Nursery

Play eye - spy .
Draw a picture of somewhere you would like to go in the Summer . Perhaps a trip to the seaside ? or a picnic by a stream ?
Look at a story book and find the front cover . What can you see ? Is the author's name on it ?

Maths Reception

Play hide away tubs ( little sheet in your pack ) Here are the instructions ;
Choose a number to practise ( perhaps a number up to5/ 10 ? ) Put that number card on display .
Count out that number of blocks or little objects
Tell your friend to shut his or her eyes and hide some of the things under the tub (perhaps an empty butter tub or ice cream tub ?)
Ask your friend " How many have I hidden ? "  Take turns in hiding some of the objects .

Talk about the words more and fewer . Complete the sheet Brothers and Sisters in the origional pack .

Maths Nursery

Talk about the words heavy and light . Use your hands to compare the weight of two objects .Put one in each hand . Can you find something heavier than an apple ? Can you find something lighter than an apple ? Can you find something bigger than the apple which feels lighter ?

Fun Activity

Use some of the things in your recycling box to make a model ( or ask to use some spare boxes and empty containers )
You could build a lighthouse or a model of something else . How will you join the different bits together ?

Have a lovely day xx
