Friday 12th February

05 Feb 2021

Hello Class one !!
Guess what .... next Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day !!!! Goody !!
Here is the story of Mr Wolf's Pancakes incase you missed our meet this morning . Click here to watch.

Phonics Reception
Go through your sound book .
Draw a phoneme frame on your white board.( That is just a rectangle divided into 3 parts  .) Can you write the words ;
goat /coat /boat /moat /toad  in your phomeme frame ? You could rub out the board between each word.
Complete the sheet in your phonics pack with 9 pictures , each with 3 lines underneath. The first 3 pictures are of a mat /dog /cup .Can you complete the sheet by filling in the missing letters to spell the words ? Sound talk each word first .

Phonics Nursery
Click here to play an eye spy game using the sounds we have learnt so far .Can you think of some things for eye spy that would have the i sound ?

Reception and Nursery

Here is a very well practised recepie for scotch pancakes . My boys love them !!

225 grammes of Self  Raising flour.
A pinch of salt.
50 grammes of sugar.
2 eggs
Milk (make up to 300ml including the eggs )

Mix everything together . I use a simple hand whisk to get it smooth.
Put a tablespoon of the batter in a frying pan and cook for a few minutes on each side .I have recently invested in a really good non-stick pan so I don't need any oil to stop them sticking . I constantly wonder why I didn't get one years ago !!
They do expand but I use a big frying pan and manage to cook 3 or 4 at a time

You could have a go at making some . They are delicious with syrup / chocolate spread / berries etc ...  You can help measure out the ingrediets . What will you use to weigh the flour ? measure the milk ?
Can you crack the eggs ?  The frying pan will be very hot so your grown up will do the cooking but you might be able to help turn them over using a big fish slice .

You could use playdough to make some pretend pancakes - you could find a toy frying pan or a small frying pan and have a pancake race !!

Maths Reception
Find the tub sums sheet in your maths pack.Play a game making up some sums with your grown up .

Maths Nursery
Do lots of counting !! can you count the eggs in the egg box when you make your pancakes ? You can count lots of things like claps , jumps and footstops !

Have a really lovely half term Class 1!!
It has been such a treat to see your smiley faces in the mornings at our meetings !! Thank you very much parents for all your support .
We so look forward to getting back together in school when we can .
Love from Mrs Todd and Mrs Hebblewhite xx
