Tuesday 2nd March Class 1

RHebblewhite - 26 Feb 2021

Tuesday 2nd March

Good morning everyone! We hope you had a great start to the week.

Today's Tasks are as follows:

Phonics Reception - Write a sentence about the story. Practise writing CVC words.
Maths Reception - Capacity and Volume. Explore, change and compare the capacity of 2 containers.
Phonics Nursery - New sound of the week 'm'. Make a monkey handprint picture with paint.
Maths Nursery - Exploring volume using sand or pasta.

Don't forget to take a look at our School News and Enrichment Pages, where you can find our Collective Worship assemblies and lots of fun activities from Sporting Influence and Forest School, once a week.

Join us at 9.00a.m. this morning for a live meet. The story today is 'Meg and Mog'. Afterwards, you can join in with a Colour Scavenger Hunt - you don't need to bring anything along, but you will need to get things from around the room during the hunt.

If you can't make storytime, click below to watch the story.

Activity for Reception and Nursery

I hope you enjoyed the story. Do you still have the witches/wizard's hat that you made when we learnt about 3D cone shapes? You could find an old saucepan and a wooden spoon and make your own spell today. Perhaps you could write down the ingredients in your spell or send me a video of you stirring your potion and chanting your spell. Maybe you would like to do some cutting and sticking? Use magazines to cut out and make a collage of ingredients to go into a cauldron?

Phonics Reception

Find the '_an' sheet in your phonics pack. It has the outline of a van on it. How many words can you think of that rhyme with 'van'? Write them into the boxes. You could draw the pictures in the windows of the van.

If you would like to do some sentence work, you could draw or paint your favourite part of our story today and write a sentence below, telling us about your picture.

Phonics Nursery

Our new 'sound of the week' is the 'm' sound. We make the sound by imagining we have our favourite meal in front of us! 'mmmm' (not 'muh').

Here is the video again for you to watch and join in with.

Practise making your 'm' sound. Imagine you are eating your favourite meal and rub your tummy!

'M' is for 'monkey'. You could make a monkey picture, using your hand print!

Maths Reception

This week we are looking at Capacity and Volume. Today you could use water or sand. You will need two identical plastic cups or buckets, in order to compare their volume.  A good starting point would be to fill one cup fully and gradually tip the water/sand into the other identical cup. As you do this, keep stopping to compare and describe the two, using the words 'empty, full, most full, emptier, more full, half-full etc..'. You could talk about what you would need to do, to make both cups have the same amount of water/sand or how to make one have more/less than the other.

Maths Nursery

This week we are looking at Capacity and Volume. Today you could play and explore this, with sand, pasta or playdough. You could get some teddies and imagine you are cooking for them. Talk about who has the most/least food in their bowl/cup etc and try to use the words 'full, empty, more full, emptier'.

Keep up the good work everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!
