Class One News Friday 14th May
Last week in Class One, we talked about our homes and why we enjoy living in Grewelthorpe. This week, we read the story, 'Handa's Surprise' about a little girl, who lives in a village in Africa. We talked about the differences and similarities between where Handa lives and where we live and we thought about what it must be like to live in Handa's village. Afterwards, we enjoyed acting out the story with our friends.
We have been thinking about special books in R.E. and this week, we learnt about the Bible. We looked at different versions of the Bible and talked about the types of stories that you find in the Bible and how they talk about God and the life of Jesus and his disciples, as well as other stories that teach us important lessons. The children really enjoyed looking though the Bibles and looking for familiar pictures and stories.
We have been exploring using water colours and seeing what happens when we mix colours . Nursery have been practising using glue and spreaders by making glitter pictures.
We re-told the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and nursery practised counting dog biscuits carefully .
Reception have been adding by counting on and made a super map of Handa's African Village to compare with Grewelthorpe .
Have a lovely weekend !
