Hello Class 1 !!
I hope you could join me this morning to talk about Chinese New Year .
You could watch
this programme about children getting ready to celebrate Chinese New Year . Click where it said this in the previous sentence to watch.
Reception Phonics .
Use your phase 3 sound mat . Ask your grown up to shout out some of the sounds we have covered . Can you find them on your sound mat ?
Find the Caterpillar Letters formation sheet in your phonics pack . Practise writing those letters using the sheet or on your white board (a c o g q f d .)
Lets practise writing the igh sound . Use your whiteboard . Can you write high / night / light ?
Nursery .
Watch this video about the t sound . Click
here . Perhaps you could have a tea party with your teddies !! I wonder if you will eat or use anything that starts with a t sound ?
Maths Reception .
We are going to explore patterns . Ask your grown up to draw 12 cicles in a line ,each about the size of a ten pence . They will look like a string of beads. Colour the first red , the next green , then red , then green . Can you carry on the pattern ? It helps to say the colours to work out which comes next .
Cut out some circles and squares . Start to stick them in a row . Start with a circle , then a square , then a circle and then another square . Can you continue the pattern ?
If you have some coloured bricks like lego , you could choose 2 colours and make a tower with a pattern . You might want to make up your own repeating pattern using coloured bricks or squares and circles ?
Nursery Maths
You could play with some patterned socks and match them up into pairs.
You could ask your grown up draw a stripy sock and choose 2 colours to fill in the stripes . for example, pink stripe , blue stripe , pink stripe , blue stripe ......
Chinese New Year
You could find China on a globe or map . You might like to make a pretend lantern like the one I showed you this morning ? Ask your grown up if you can try some chinese food ? You might try noodles / sweet and sour sauce / prawn crackers ?? Yummy !! Have a go with some chopsticks if you have any - it is fun but tricky !!
Have lovely day Class 1
love from Mrs Todd and Mrs Hebblewhite xx
