RHebblewhite - 28 Jan 2021
Monday 1st February
Good morning everyone! We hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Today's Tasks are as follows:
Phonics Reception - Practise reading and writing CVC words.
Maths Reception - Measure and compare using non-standard units.
Phonics Nursery - New sound of the week - 'p' for pig.
Maths Nursery - Use language related to size.
Join us at 9.00a.m. this morning for a live meet, to share the story ''Jack And The Beanstalk "
(Reception, you can also join in with a Phonics Play game afterwards, if you like).
If you are unable to make it today, click on the triangle play button below, to watch the story.
Activity for Reception and Nursery
Listen to the story today. Did you enjoy it? What was your favourite part?
If you could grow a magic beanstalk, where would you like it to take you?
If you have some seeds at home, maybe you could plant your own? Or perhaps you could practise with some flower seeds? Put it in a warm room on a window sill.

Phonics Reception
Find and complete the Phonics sheet, which has the words 'bed, leg, pig, jam and bus'. You could read and join the words to the pictures and afterwards try to robot-talk the words without looking at them and write them down. If you want a challenge, try to write a 'silly sentence' with the words. for example: 'The leg and the jam got on the bus!'.
Practise our new sound 'ee'. The link below takes you to the 'Phonics Play' website, which is currently free to use, with the username Jan21 and password home.
https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/
Here is how to find your way around the Phonics Play website:
Type in the username and password above.
Scroll down the page to find the 'Buried Treasure' game and click on this (or the game of your choice).
Click on 'Start'/Phase 3 (or Phase 1 for Nursery)
Where it says 'set 1-7', click on '+ee' (or any other digraph you would like to practise).
Phonics Nursery
Our new 'sound of the week' is the 'p' sound.
Can you practise making that sound? Make a quiet baby 'p' sound, a loud daddy 'p' sound and a middle-sized Mummy 'p' sound!
Watch this video in join in the 'p' song.
Now that you have heard the song, can you make the sound 'p', imagine you are blowing out a candle on the pig cake and put one finger to your lips, whilst you make the sound.
Practise doing it in different ways, e.g. quietly, loudly, slowly, fast.
Can you find 4 things that start with a 'p' sound? Can you say 'p for..' for each word?
Can you learn the song 'This Little Piggy' went to market?
Maths Reception and Nursery
Cut out a giant footprint and do some measuring around your house - see how many things you can find that are smaller/bigger/the same size as the giant footprint. Afterwards, you could draw around your footprint and do the same. Can you use the comparative language, smaller/longer/smallest/longest?
Reception could try measuring using their cubes. Can you find something which measures 1 cube/5 cubes/10 cubes?

Reception, find and complete the Maths sheet in your pack entitled 'Magic Beans'.
Keep up the good work everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!
