Tuesday 26th January
Good morning everyone! We hope you all had a good start to the week.
Today's Tasks are as follows:
Phonics Reception - Practise writing words with the 'ng' sound.
Maths Reception - Go on a Rectangle Hunt and make a 'Shape Pizza'.
Phonics Nursery - Play a game to practise the Sound of The Week, 't'.
Maths Nursery - Make a Shape Pizza or make shapes with your lunch!
Join us at 9.00a.m. this morning for a live meet, to share the story ''The Magic Bed".
If you are unable to make it today, click on the triangle play button below, to watch the story.
Activity for Reception and Nursery
Listen to the story today. Did you enjoy it? What was your favourite part?
If you had a magic bed, where would you go? You could draw a picture of your magic bed in your magic land. Or perhaps take your teddies on a journey on your own magic bed. What types of things will you need to bring to your bed, to take on your journey? You could visit these lands:
You could write a sentence beneath your picture, for example, "My bed will go to ........land". Use your tricky word cards to copy the words 'my', 'go' and 'to'.
Phonics Reception
Can you remember one of our new digraphs, 'ng'? Which letters makes that sound? Can you remember the action?
Listen to my short 'ng' words story. Everytime you hear an 'ng' words, put your hands on your head!
See how many 'ng' words you can tell your grown-up after the story.
Here are some words from the story. Draw a phoneme frame on your whiteboard. Say each word aloud, robot-talk each one and write each into your frame. For a challenge, try writing 'string' and 'bring' and 'thing'.
Phonics Nursery
Our new 'sound of the week' is the 't' sound.
Can you practise making that sound? Make a quiet baby 't' sound, a loud daddy 't' sound and a middle-sized Mummy 't' sound!
Watch this video in join in the the 't' song.
Now that you have heard the song, can you make the sound 't' and imagine you are holding your tennis racket and hitting the ball whilst you make the sound? Stand up and practise doing it in different ways, e.g. up high, down low, quietly, loudly, slowly, fast.
Can you find 4 things that start with a 't' sound? Can you say 't for..' for each word?
Put each in a different corner of your room. Close your eyes and ask your grown-up to quietly stand in a corner. Can you guess where they are without looking? Shout out the word that you think they are next to.
You could say 't for teddy'. After, swap over.
Maths Reception
Find and complete the 'One Baby Bunny' sheet in your Maths Pack. You could also ask your grown-up sing the song on the sheet with you. You could use your fingers to work out each time how many bunnies there would be, each time one more appears.
You have been learning about shapes in Maths. Can you remember the names of two shapes you looked at last week? Which one curved edge? Which has four corners? Which has three edges?
Today we are going to look at Rectangles. Can see a rectangle on your device/laptop? Which other shape are they similar to? Why? In which way are they different?
Go on a Rectangle Hunt with your grown-up. Can you find a rectangle in every room? Count the sides and the corners, to make sure it is a rectangle. Check there is one pair of edges longer than the other.
You could practise exploring 2D shapes with the following link:
https://apps.mathlearningcenter.org/pattern-shapes/
If you would like an extra job today, you could cut out some shapes to make a 'Shape Pizza' or you help with lunch and see how many different shapes you can make with your food, by cutting and arranging them on your plate.
Maths Nursery
Help Mummy and Daddy with lunch and see how many different shapes you can make with your food, by helping them to cut or by arranging them on your plate. Can you count the circles? How many squares can you find? You could also cut out some shapes to make a 'Shape Pizza'.
Good work everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!
