Join us at 9.00a.m this morning for a live meet, where we will be sharing the story 'The Three Bears'.
If you are unable to make it today, click on the triangle play button below to watch the story.
Activity for Reception and Nursery
Listen to the story today. Did you enjoy it? What was your favourite part?
Can you remember what happened at the start, middle and end?
Do you have a favourite teddy bear at home? Can you make a cosy bed for them? You could use a tissue box or a shoe box and decorate the outside with crayons or felt-tips. What might you use for a pillow and blanket that will fit your box?
Phonics Reception
Find the large A3 letter formation practise sheet in your pack, entitled 'Ladder Letters'. Practise writing over the letters. Remember your 'froggy fingers' and don't forget to start in the right place each time.
Use your whiteboard afterwards, to practise some of the letters that you found tricky.
Now we are going to practise 'sounding out' and writing some short words.
Find the sheet in your pack, with a large picture of a dog, showing the letters 'og' in large writing.
Which words rhyme with dog? Can you think of words starting with f/l/d/j/fr that rhyme with 'dog'?
For each word on the sheet, say it aloud, then 'robot talk' your word. Before you write it, tell your grown-up what the first/last and then middle sound is. For an extra challenge, you could draw a picture and write a short caption, for example, 'A dog on a log'. Be careful not to forgot your finger spaces.
Phonics Nursery
Each week we will introduce a new sound. This week, our 'sound of the week' is 'A' - the 'ah' sound.
Can you practise making that sound? Make a quiet baby 'a' sound, a loud daddy 'a' sound and a middle-sized Mummy 'a' sound!
Watch this video in join in the the 'a' song.
Now that you have heard the song, can you make the sound 'a' and imagine your fingers are the little ants jumping up your arm? Practise doing it in different ways, e.g. quietly, loudly, slowly, fast.
You could play 'Kim's Game' to practise hearing the initial sounds of objects starting with 's' and 'a'.
Gather up to 5 objects starting with these sounds, e.g. apple, ant (you could sketch one), sock, spoon. Take turns with a grown-up to take one away, while the other closes their eyes. When you work out which object is missing, say " 'a' for ant" is missing", for example.
Maths Reception
Listen the story 'The Three Bears'. Let's act out our own version, to practise using the language of size.
Can you find three bears in your bedroom? (or otherwise maybe three ponies/dinosaurs etc..)
Can you find three different sized spoons, bowls and blankets/boxes for beds (or cushions)?
While you are looking for them, talk about the items and use the language of size:
large/big, middle-sized/medium, small/little/tiny etc.
Can you put them in size order? Compare the bears and use the language biggest/smallest/middle-sized.
You could act out the story or even invite your bears to lunch and have a carpet picnic!!
Find and complete the number 3 formation sheet in your Maths Pack. Remember to hold your pencil carefully and start your number in the right place.
Maths Nursery
Listen to the story 'The Three Bears'. Can you find a teddy in your bedroom?
Now can you find one that is smaller and one that is bigger.
Perhaps Mum or Dad can model the words 'biggest', 'smallest' and 'middle-sized/medium-sized' to you.
Can you find the 'biggest/smallest/middle-sized' bear?
You could act out the story together and even have a look for the different sized spoons, bowls etc...
Why not invite your bears to lunch and have a carpet picnic!!
Good work everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!
