Thursday 7th January

Good morning everyone! We hope you are all safe and well.
Click here to watch Shark in The Park.

Activity for Reception and Nursery:

Can you make a telescope like Timothy Pope in the story. You could use your telescope to find some 'sh' words around the house, like 'shed' or 'shoe'.

Maybe you could draw or paint a shark with sharp teeth! You might be able to find out about sharks by looking in a book or on the internet.

Phonics Reception :

Which sound does Shark start with?

In your Phonics Pack, find the sheet which has a picture of a ship, fish, shell and a dog and the sound 'sh' at the top.
Sound out the 'sh' words and write them at the bottom with your grown-up?

If you would like to, you could draw a picture of a shop. Talk to your grown-up about the different shops you like to visit.
Can you write' The shop' on your picture?

Phonics Nursery:

Ask your grown-up if you can use a stick or a wooden spoon. Can you explore the different sounds you can make by tapping different surfaces and materials outside and in the house?

Maths Reception:

Find the red and white 'ten' frame in your pack and count out 6 of your cubes and put them onto your 'ten' frame.
You could play with the six blocks and find different ways to put them onto your ten frame.

Now find the sheet in your Maths pack with the pictures of the guinea pigs on.
Count the guinea pigs and cut them out.
You can give them a hutch and a run (perhaps use two different pieces of paper). Find some different ways of putting them into two groups (some in the hutch and some in the run.)
Can you find a way to record some of the different ways you have found to make six guinea pigs, for example two guinea pigs are in the hutch and four guinea pigs are in the pen, which makes six guinea pigs altogether.  You can use drawings or numbers.

Find and complete the number six formation sheet in your Maths Pack and complete this with the help of your grown-up.

Maths Nursery:

Can you help your grown-up to set the table for lunch or tea?
How many forks/knives/spoons will you need?
Can you practise counting up to ten?

We hope that you have enjoyed today's activities. Every week day from tomorrow morning, there will be a live meet on Microsoft Teams with Mrs Todd or Mrs Hebblewhite at 9.00 a.m. You will have been sent a unique username and password for your child today. We will send your child an 'invitation' to join the meeting, which you will click on to join. Details on how to log-on can be found on the news page of the school website.

Each Friday we will leave the boxes of reading books in the main playground shelter. You may help yourselves to up to three reading books. Please can you drop the returned books in the drop-box, which we will quartine before we then recirculate the books.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact us at mrstodd@gfschools.co.uk

Take care and stay safe,
Mrs Todd and Mrs Hebblewhite xx
