CLASS 1 Monday 22nd June

RHebblewhite - 21 Jun 2020

Here is a OneDrive link to worksheets that complement this week's activities.

Monday 22nd June

Good Morning Class One, I hope you had a great weekend!
Here is some of your 'Wonderful Work' from last week!
Well done everyone - you are doing so well! Keep it up!

Shall we start the day with another little puzzle?
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE!

How many can you spot?
Can you write me a note, to tell me how many you found,
for tomorrow's page? You might like to use the sentence, "I can see....things".

Here are the answers to Friday's puzzle.
Thank you Daisy and Max from Fountains.

Did you enjoy acting out The Three Billygoats Gruff on Friday?
Here's two of our Fountains friends with their 'cone puppets'.
You can make your own, if you link to Friday's page.

Thank you for sharing. Keep sending me your news, everyone!

Here's letter 'f', if you'd like to practise this today.
Start on the dot and follow the arrow backwards.
(Perhaps you could mark a dot on your letters first)

 Let's wake ourselves up!
Join in with Fountain's version of Baby Shark!

Phonics

Would you like to test yourselves on your letter names today?
Join in with my favourite, Jack Hartman. You can stand up for this song!
How many do you know now?

Our project this week is all about Space.
Watch this clip of the first two people to ever set foot on the moon,
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
What do you think it will look like on the moon?

Would you like to fly to the moon?
What would your rocket look like?
Draw me a picture of it, with you standing beside it.
label your picture and your space suit,
using your fantastic phonic knowledge!

Don't forget to share them with me for tomorrow's page!!

Space worksheets and activities!

I think you've earned yourself a break!
Here is a fun
exercise video for you to join in with!

Maths

Let's practise our 3D shape names!
Can you join in with this song?

This week we are going to be learning about length,
how long or short something is.
Watch this story, Jim and The Beanstalk.

Afterwards, cut out your own giant's foot (link at the top),
and look around your house for five things that are shorter

and five things that are longer.
Could you draw and label what you find and send your picture to me,
for tomorrow's class page?

You might also enjoy watching this song, all about longer/shorter.
(you'll need to ignore the imperial units!!)

Our project his week is all about Space
So, here is an episode of Space Ranger Roger!

This week's project

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about Space. Learning may focus on our Solar System, the Sun and the Moon. It could look at life in outer space from the view of an astronaut and travelling through space.

Space worksheets and activities!

Remarkable Rockets
● Use junk modelling or craft items you have around your house to create your own rocket. Toilet roll tubes are a good starting point. You could have rocket races in the garden: ○ Tie a string up at an angle or use the washing line. ○ Blow up a balloon and sellotape it to your rocket. Hold the end of the balloon but do not tie it. ○ Let the balloon go and watch your rocket fly!
Make a Textured Planet
● Work with your child to create a replica of a planet. You could papier mache a balloon, or colour, paint or stick bits of materials on to the card to create textured effects. Use shaving foam to create a great textured finish when dry. Simply spray shaving foam onto a plate and drop in food colouring or poster paint.
Explore Space Online
● Support your child in looking at the Earth from space using the Google Earth programme and identifying simple features such as water.
● Can you find your home? What does your child notice about the surrounding area?
Phone Home
 ● Create a space phone with your child using items from around the home. Get them to practise forming numerals correctly to create the buttons.
● Make a space phone book to support roleplay. Ask your child to draw a picture of a different alien on each page and write a phone number for them.
Have a Space Themed Party/Picnic
● Support your child to use tin foil to create shiny space suits for their teddies and dolls. They could have a space-themed teddy bear’s picnic afterwards where they share the biscuits in the next activity!
● Make yummy star biscuits to share at the picnic. They could share them at their space themed teddy bear’s picnic.
Mission X – Astro Agility Course
● Complete an agility course to improve movement skills, co-ordination, and speed. Record your speed and see if you can get faster with practise.

Have fun, Class One and remember to look after each other!
Love from Mrs Hebblewhite, Croccy, Fred the Ted and Boris xxxx
