Friday 19th June
Good Morning Class One, I hope you had a lovely week!
Shall we start the day with a little puzzle?!
"I spy with my little eye, 5 things beginning with C"
Can you spot them?
Can you write out the answers, using your phonic knowledge,
to show your friends on Monday's class page?
Someone has been busy making some yummy gingerbread men!
We've been learning about 'halves' and 'sharing things out fairly', haven't we?
I wonder if our Fountains friends here have shared all their biscuits out fairly?
(he he!)
Thanks for sharing! Keep sending me your news everyone!
Here's letter 'e', if you'd like to practise this today.
Start on the dot in the middle and follow the arrow round.
(Perhaps you could mark a dot on your letters first)
Do you remember this song? It's called Meow Moo Moo!
Can you join in with the actions?

Phonics
Watch the story, The Three Billygoats Gruff.
Link to the 'paper cone puppets' at the top of the page,
and you can act it out as you watch!
Can you remember the story? Can you act it out again with
your own puppets? Or pretend your own teddies are the goats and troll.
Here is a fun Unicorn Yoga video for you to join in with!

Maths
Why don't we practise some adding with this fun online game!
Be sure to click on 'Level 1'. Focus on numbers to 10 first.

This week we have been practising finding half.
Practise, using this online game.
(Do as few or as many as you choose. The questions gradually get harder).

Maths
Let's practise doing some sorting and grouping today.
Can you make a pretend shop in your kitchen, using some of the packets and tins from your cupboard? If it's getting near lunchtime, you could make a cafe.
Sort the packets and tins into different foods or even different shapes.
Here is an episode of Topsy And Tim, 'The Birthday Party'.
How will you celebrate your next Birthday?
This week's project
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about countries and cities around the world. Learning may focus on different cultures and traditions, famous landmarks, food and clothing.
Flags
Look at flags from around the world. Discuss which are your child’s favourites and why? Ask your child to design and make their own flag using 2d shapes.
Food Tasting
Find some different foods/fruits from around the world and taste each one. These might include: pizza (Italy), curry (India) and taco (Mexican) or the fruits from the story Handa's Surprise.
Your child can create a chart putting a tick next to each food they like and a cross next to the foods they dislike over the course of the week.
Pleasing Puppets
Make your own Handa’s Surprise character puppet.

Toys From Around The World
Look at this photography project of children with their toys from around the world.
Can your child draw their favourite toy and write a sentence explaining why this is their favourite?

Where In The World
Discuss with your child where your family comes from in the world. If you have them available, show your child photographs of where you, or their grandparents, grew up. This might be similar to where they live now or completely different. Encourage your child to think about the differences between the places.
Discuss how life is the same and how life is different in other countries.
Engineering Around The World
A bridge helps people move over obstacles like a river, a valley or a busy road. The world’s longest bridge is in China and is 164.8km long. It would take more than two days to walk the length of this bridge. Do you have any bridges near your home? What do they look like?
Try building a bridge out of paper, Lego or any other building materials you might have at home. Your bridge needs to be big enough for a toy car or small toy to travel in.
Have a great week, everyone!
Love from Mrs Hebblewhite, Fred the Ted, Boris and Croccy! xxx
