Reception Maths
Look around your house . Can you find some clocks and watches ? Talk about why we need them .
Make a clock face with a paper plate or a circle of card . Write the numbers on . You could copy a watch face .
If you start with putting 12 , 3 , 6 , and 9 on in the right places it makes it easier .Now fill in the rest of the numbers . Use some card to make 2 hands ( one long enough to reach the numbers from the centre of the clockface , and one much shorter one )
If you want the clock to show O Clock , the big hand needs to point to the 12. Use the hands to change the time .Make the clock show ;
7 O Clock
10 O Clock
12 O Clock
2 O Clock
5 O Clock
6 O Clock
3 O Clock
Draw some pictures of different times of the day on seperate pieces of paper . For example you getting up or having your lunch .
This is your English
Write what time it is on some or all of them . For example ;
I am in the bath .
I have my lunch
Can you muddle them up and then put them in the right order ?
Nursery Maths
Practise your counting . Lay out some numbercards . Pick one and try counting on from that number . For example if you pick number 4 you would carry on from 4 and say 5, 6, 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 ....
Repeat with different starting numbers .
Nursery English
Talk about which times of the day you like best . You might like lunchtime or bathtime . Use your toys to pretend it is that time of day . What might they do or say ?
What might the clock say ?
Fun Activity
Make a collection of natural materials .You could find some sticks , leaves , pebbles , flowers , moss , feathers or anything else interesting you find . Use a piece of paper or material as a background and then have fun arranging your things to make a picture . You can arrange things however you like . You could take a photograph of your finished picture !
