Fractions fractions

Fraction fun
We have been learning about halves, thirds and quarters. If this green triangle is half of my shape what would the whole shape look like? Is there more than one answer? What if it is a quarter of may shape? We tried with different starting shapes as different fractions of the whole shape. We discovered that there were lots of correct answers. Then we had fun using the pattern blocks to design and make pictures.
 

  
 
  

 
Following on from our work on fractions of shapes we found out you can find fractions of a set of objects.

 

  

  

 
A A Milne
AA Milne is most famous for his Winnie the Pooh stories but he also wrote lots of poetry. We have been looking at some of his poems and identifying rhyming words, rhyming couplets and verses. Then we used our own rhyming words to change one of the poems and make it our own.

Thinking voices
Can you use your thinking voice for part of the song and keep in time to the pulse? It is harder than you think! At the end of the lesson we got to use lots of instruments to play along to the chorus of 'There was a man lived on the moon'. We had to listen carefully and remember when to start and stop playing.
