Morning work

Practice your joined up letters using a whiteboard pen on your laminated letter formation sheet.

Year 1
1) robot letters n,m (Remember to start on the line, woosh to the middle then go down to his feet and then back up and over.) As this is a new type of letter you may need to spend a few minutes just practicing these 2 letters in your home school book.

2) If you feel confident with 'n' and 'm' then practice the other letters we have learnt so far.
caterpillar letters c,a,g,d  (Remember to start on the line, woosh to the middle and say high to Mr Caterpillar then go back round)
ladder letters i, l, t

Year 2
Practice as many capital and lower case letters as you can in 5 mins. Remember that capital letters start at the top and lower case letters start on the bottom line.

Y1 Maths
Get your white board pens, bricks and number lines to have a go at the questions in the video as I am talking about them.

Can I subtract by counting back?
Maths No Problem page - 128 and 129

Use your purple pen to mark your own work. The answers are in the Home Learning tab.

If you finish quickly then log onto Sumdog or Purple Mash and play some maths games.

Y2 Maths
Watch the video to find out what we are learning today.

Can I subtract 2 digit numbers.
First I would like you to sort these calculations just like I did in the video.

Now work out the calculations that you have put in the 'Need to exchange' side. Remember you can use your multibase to help and you must show me what you are thinking. You can show me by:
1) Drawing a part-whole diagram
2) Drawing the jumps on a number line
3) Writing an equation

Here is the last question from the video with the different ways you could show me your workings. You don't need to do all 3 unless you want to.

Take a photo of your maths work today and send it to me on your private channel in Teams.

Challenge:
1)

 2)

English
Watch the video to find out how to form the new robot letter 'r'. Y1s you can stop watching after I have done the first line of 'r's.

Can I correctly form the joined up letter 'r'.
Y1 - Practice the robot letter 'r' on the page in your handwriting booklet that says 'Short robot letters'. There are 2 lines to complete.

Y2 - Practice the joining the letter 'r' by writing the following words in your home school book.

Be very careful when you are joining from 'r' and watch the video again if you are not sure.

Fire giant instructions

Can I write an introduction and 'You will need' list for my instructions?
Today I want you to start your instructions for how to catch a fire giant. You will need to use a new page in your home school book and leave space to finish these instructions over the rest of this week.
Y1 - Write the title and 'You will need' list. (Challenge is to write an introduction if you want to have a go.)
Y2 - Write the title, introduction and 'You will need' list. Make your writing interesting for the reader by including questions, adjectives and explanations.
