Collective Worship - Monday 13th July

12 Jul 2020

Good Morning Everyone!

The Collective Worship theme for this week is New Beginnings.

We're going to start today by thinking about bridges.

What do bridges do? What are they there for? Share your ideas with the people who are with you.

......A bridge is a structure carrying a road, path, railway across a river, road, or other obstacle.
So, bridges enable us to get from one side of an obstacle to another.  They make is easy for us to get across.

Do these bridges look as easy to get across?

So, not all bridges are easy to cross.  But even the difficult bridges enable us to cross over to the other side.

We also have emotional bridges when we are moving on from one stage of our lives to another.
We might have mixed feelings about leaving behind things that we're comfortable with, to change to something new.

Many of us are changing classes and teachers and some of us are going to new schools.
These changes can be very exciting but can also be a bit scary, because we are not sure what’s at ‘the other side’.
It’s normal to feel excited and worried.
But there are lots of people who will help you to ‘cross the bridge’…. Friends, teachers, parents.
There's always someone who will help us.

Do you have any worries about next year?
Who do you think will help you?

No matter how we feel, we need to cross the bridge if we want to get to the other side and experience all the things that are in store for us there. Once we have moved on, we find that things often seem even better at the other side!
Changes lead to new beginnings…. new friends, new opportunities and new challenges.  If you stayed in the same place all the time, you would become bored and uninspired.

There is a saying ‘Reach for the stars!’  Have a go at things that might seem too difficult – you never know, you might be able to do them! Sometimes new things are difficult at first, but always try your best
What are you excited about for your next year at school?  Are you going to challenge yourself with something?

Jesus taught us that he would always be there for us, wherever we go.

Today’s Bible Reading is taken from Joshua 1:9:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go,”

Today's prayer:
Thank you for all the opportunities we have in our lives.
Thank you for those around us who help us when we have changes in our lives.
Thank you that you are always with us wherever we go.
Amen

So, please remember that there are many people who will help you, as you move on with your journey through school.
Don’t worry about the things that might seem difficult – just always try to do your best!

Thank you for taking part in today's Collective Worship.
I hope you all enjoy being in your new year groups and classes for the last week of this term.
Lots of good luck to everyone in Year 6. We will miss you all!
