Morning work

Practice your mental maths by playing on SumDog.

English

What super froggy fingers you have!

Which zigzag letter did we practice yesterday? Watch the video below to find out what we are doing today.

Y1 practice the letter 'w' on the page headed 'Zigzag letters' in your Handwriting 2 booklet.

Y2 practice the letter 'w' on the page headed 'Top join to short letters 3' in your Handwriting 6 booklet.

Y1 and Y2 - We are starting a new story today. Here is a picture of the front cover.

What do you think the story might be about?

Have you every been to the library?

Click on the video below to listen to the start of the story.

Can you remember any of our class rules? Here are the first three rules on our list.

What rules would you make up about lions in the library? I thought of 'Move your tail gently.'

Make a 'Rules for Lions' poster. It could include a drawing of a lion in a library. Write down or draw one or more rules for lions in the library.

 Y1 Maths
I hope you had fun finding out what seconds, minutes and hours felt like yesterday. Now let's use what we know to estimate how long it will take the children in the book to do their activities.

The page in your Maths No Problem book today is 110.

Y2 Maths
Watch the video below to find out what we are learning today.

The pages in your Maths No Problem book today are 133 - 134.
If you find some of the questions a bit tricky then look at our learning steps for today. Remember to start on the bottom step and work your way up to find your challenge. If you can do parts a) b) and c) of the questions then that is the first 2 steps. Try those parts first on both pages then have a go at just one of the other parts.

Maths Super Challenge

Phonics/Spelling

Y1 and Y2 - can you remember all your sounds? Join in with me to play a game of Flashcards speed trial.

Year 1

Practice your spellings using the 'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' method using your spelling sheets.

If you have time log onto WordShark. I have set this weeks spellings so you need click on the 'My Set Work' tab at the top of the screen.

Year 2
Yesterday you made your own spelling list. Practice your spellings using the  'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' method using your spelling sheets. Remember to use joined up handwriting and think about how it feels to write each word. Sometimes the way the word feels as you write it can help you remember how to spell it.

Log onto WordShark.  I have not set any work on Wordshark so just play the games and you will be practicing the words that the computer has set as your target words to practice.

Reading

Y1 & Y2 Read a few pages from your school book. Then quiet reading for 20 mins - you can carry on reading your school book, or choose a book you have at home. Think about a quiet place you could go to read. Maybe outside?

Topic

Click on the link to find out about urban habitats. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx882hv/articles/zw2syrd

We have now looked at 4 habitats: Pond, woodland, coastal and urban. For the rest of this week I would like you to think about all of these different habitats. Do you live near any of these? Have you visited any? What did you see living there?

You could:
1) make or draw each of the different habbitats with all the different plants and animals that are found there.
2) write a report.
3) paint a picture
4) create your own habitat outside
5) make a model using lego, junk or other construction equipment
6) investigate why different animals and plants live in different habbitats

Send me pictures of anything that you make, write or do. I will print them out and stick them on the science working wall at school.
