English and Art

I will be putting your Desert fact sheets on display. We want lots of people to stop and look at the display. What can we do to make it look exciting and interesting?

Lots of you said that we need some pictures so today I want you to make some art work to go on the display board with your fact sheet. We have been writing about desert animals as part of our fact sheets so desert animal art would be good. Here is an idea that we could adapt for desert animals.

Instructions:
1) Cut a large shape out of cardboard. (Can be a rectangle. Think about the size of the head.)
2) Draw the desert animal's body. (Make sure it fills most of the board.)
3) Paint the body. (You could make a collage instead.)
4) Cut out a cone piece from an egg box and decorate it as the animals head.
5) Stick the head onto the picture.
6) Stick/make/paint a border

Remember your animal needs to be a desert animal so here are some pictures of real desert animals to give you some insperation.

You will need to keep your art work safe until next book swap day.

Maths
Choose a puzzle to solve.

1) Ladybird Box. Make your own 6 by 6 grid and use counters/bricks or make your own ladybirds!

2) The Add and Take-away Path. Here is a printable copy of the children's paths  -Add and take away new.pdf-  You could use bricks as points to help you keep track of what is happening.
