Our Teams chat this morning is at 10 o'clock. Y2 blue guided reading group please bring your Guided Reading booklet.

Morning work

Practice writing the capital letters C D G M O M T using your whiteboard pen on your laminated Letter Formation sheet. Remember that capital letters start at the top and you sometimes have to take your pen off and go back to the top.

English

Listen to the video to find out more about Chinese dragons.

Click on the following link https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ChineseNewYear/DragonDance.aspx You might recognise the pictures because this is what I was reading in my video! Scroll down to the bottom of the page and watch the video of a Chinese dragon dance. There is also a number game that you can play if you want to.

Dragons in chinese stories sound different to dragons in western stories. Think of all the dragon stories that you have heard.

Today I would like you to write some sentences to tell the children in the other classes about Chinese and Western dragons.

Choose your challenge:
1) Write a sentence about what chinese dragons are like.
2) Make your sentence longer by using the word 'and'
3) Write more than one sentence about chinese dragons and western dragons
4) Write sentences to compare the two types of dragons using the conjuction 'but' and explaining your reasons.

My sentence is:

Chinese dragons are helpful but western dragons are scary because they capture and eat people in stories.

Y1 Maths

I have some money in my purse. The children in the book have been helping me find out how much money I have.

Now it's your turn. Complete the piggy bank page in your Money Practice booklet 'How much is there in each piggy bank?'

Challenge: Complete the last page in your Money Practice booklet. The money banks are pictures of elephants!

Y2 Maths

Watch the video to find out what we are doing today.

1) My friend said that Ravi needed 3 more coins. Is it possible to make 10p using 3 coins? Show me in your home school book.
2) Help Ravi make these amounts. Draw or write your answers in your home school book.

Remember that you can only use notes and coins that we have in the UK. The notes are shown below.

Take a photo of your work and post it into your private area on Teams. (If you have problems doing that then email it to me at mrshickingbotham@gfschools.co.uk)
