Evacuee

01 Dec 2020

What would it feel like to be evacuated?

We went back in time to 1939. We were children who lived in cities and had to go the countryside to keep safe. We were given our evacuee tags before going in our carriages.

What would we choose to put in our suitcases? They were very small so we couldn't take a lot.

Our suitcases were packed and on the train we went! It was a long journey. To keep ourselves busy we had to make up a game with marbles.

We arrived in the countryside. We got settled in our new homes. We used old paper (that we made ourselves with tea!) and wrote letters home to tell our parents what we had been up to.
