Life during World War 2

29 Nov 2020

World War 2 Christmas

Following on from our work on rationing we made war time apple turnovers using very little sugar and lots of apples! We had to measure out and mix the dough, roll out the pastry to the correct thickness, carefully use a peeler to peel the apples, hold the sharp knife properly and chop the apple into small pieces.

Dig for victory
Where did those apples come from? The garden of course. Don't forget to dig up your gardens and plant fruit and vegetables to eat.

Make do and mend decorations
What could you do with scraps of left over paper? Make paper chains to decorate the classroom! We also made snow flake decorations and our own Christmas crackers.

Other things

A peaceful moment sharing a book during quiet reading.
