  Good morning Home School!

Remember that the answers for all the work from Friday are in the Homework section so you can use a puple pen to neatly mark your work.

Morning work

Get your journals and copy and complete as many questions as you can. Think about quick ways to work out the answers. You might need to use a different method for each question. Is there a number bond that you know that could help? Would breaking the numbers up into tens and ones help?

Black  - questions for everyone

Blue - Y2

English

We have been practicing some caterpillar letters and some ladder letters. Can you remember what they are?
Today we are going to practice a new type of letters. Watch the video below to find out.

Y1 practice the letter 'n' on the third page of your Handwriting Extra booklet.

Y2 practice joining 'ng' by finishing the page headed 'Top join to short letters 2' in Handwriting 6.

Listen to the story It's A Book again.

The story that Monkey is reading is called Treasure Island. It is a book about pirates, treasure, islands, ships and exciting battles. Monkey sent me an email with pictures from his Treasure Island book. What questions would you like to ask Monkey about the pictures in his book?

Monkey says he has sent an email to you too. To find it you need to log onto Purple Mash. Click on Tools, then scroll down and find '2Email'.
Read the email then click on 'Reply' to send an email back to Monkey. You could ask him your question if you want.

To keep everyone safe and happy I need to approve all emails sent within Purple Mash before they are delivered to the person that you have sent them to. This means that I will read all emails to make sure that you have remembered to be kind.

 Y1 Maths

Practice telling the time to the hour using Purple Mash . I have set a 'Time' game in your 2Do.

Get your home made clock ready to show different times. Look at your clock and make sure you can remember which is the short hour hand and which is the long minute hand.

Complete the front page of your Time Practice booklet.
1) Use your home made clock to show the time.
2) Draw the hands on the blank clock making sure that I can tell which is the short hand and which is the long hand.
3) Look at your home made clock and what you have drawn. Are they the same?

Y2 Maths

Get your purple pens and neatly mark your work from Friday.

Practice telling the time by playing the game https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/116/telling-the-time

Scroll down to the game, click on it and choose game 2.

Get your clocks ready to show the times then draw the hands on pages 5 and 11 of your Time Revision booklet.

1) Make your clock say the time.
2) Carefully draw the hands on the clock making sure I can tell which is the short hand and which is the long hand.
3) Look at your clock and what you have drawn. Are they the same?

Reading

Y1 & Y2 Read a few pages from your school book. Then quiet reading for 20 mins - you can carry on reading your school book, or choose a book you have at home. Think about a quiet place you could go to read. Maybe outside?

Music

Log into https://charanga.com. Click on Assignments then Zootime – Step 3

On the right hand side you will see the different activities. Today click on the first activity ‘Listen and Appraise – Small people’ This is a song by Ziggy Marley and the The Melody Makers. They recorded this version when they made a guest appearance on the Sesame Street show. Ziggy is the oldest son of Bob Marley. The song starts with an introduction from the characters in Sesame Street. If you look at the line moving along the bar at the bottom, the music starts after the fist long blue section.

Clap, tap or stand up and move to the music.

Do you like the song? What can you hear? Is there anyone singing? Are there any instruments? Is it fast, slow or inbetween?  Does it sound like anything else you have listened to?

This is also a Raggae song. Raggae music originated from Jamaica.
Play the song again and listen out for:

  • Introduction
  • Verses
  • Intro
  • Verse
  • Bridge
  • Verse
  • Ending

Watch the line move along the coloured bar at the bottom. The colours show the different parts of the song.

Topic

Take another photo of the exact same place in your garden for your photo diary.

What is a plant? How do you know if a plant is alive? What do plants need to stay alive? Is it the same as animals? How do you make sure that the plants in your house or garden stay healthy and keep growing?
Lots of questions for you to think about and investigate this week.

Other Things
What else are you doing at Home School?

I hope the birds enjoy that lovely food you have put out for them.

I am missing school and all my friends so I baked a cake and called it 'Old School Cake'
