  Good morning Home School!

If you feel different, we will take your hand

Morning work

Use your purple pens to mark your work from yesterday. The answers are in the homework section of the website.

Do as many quesitons as you can.

Black  - questions for everyone.
Copy the words into your Journals and put a line under all the 2 letter sounds. Read each word. If the word is a real word then give it a tick. If it is not a real word you can draw an alien next to it.

Blue - Y2

Someone has rubbed out all the letters that make the /ai/ sound from my words. Can you match the words to the correct /ai/ spellings then copy them into your Home School books in joined up handwriting.

English

I have been receiving lots of great examples of handwriting from you all. Well done.

Tom Henry decided to change the last word to deed.

I can definately tell which letters are short and which letters are tall.

Watch the video below to see which caterpillar letter we are practicing today.

Y1 practice the letter 'o' on the second page of your Handwriting Extra booklet. There are 2 lines with the letter 'o' on and some space for you to have a go all on your own.

Y2 find the page headed 'Top join to short letters 1' in Handwriting 6 (yes 6 not 5!). Complete the first 3 lines - o, oi and oil. Watch out for those top joins.

Can you remember any of the words to One moment one people?  Go to the SingUp Website and scroll down the page until you see

Click on the triangular play button and sing along. If you want the words then you can download them from the link on that page.

One of the lines of the song is:

Every heartbeat drums together and fills up with pride.

Make a rosette for a friend or someone in your family. Think about what they have done that they should be proud of. It could be something that they have tried really hard at, something kind they have done for you or someone else, being really patient or helpful.

In the middle of the rosette write a sentence to tell them why you are proud of them.

 Y1 Maths

Use your purple pens to carefully and neatly mark your work from yesterday.

Play 'Money Swap'. You will need a dice, ten 1p coins and two 5p coins. If you don't have real coins then you can make some.

1) Roll the dice.
2) Get that number of 1p coins
3) If you have 5 1p coins then swap them for a 5p coin
4) Roll the dice again and have another go.

Can you get all the way to 20p? Remember you won't have enough 1p coins so you must swap them.

You can play with someone in your family. You will need double the number of coins if 2 people are playing. Take turns to have a go and the winner is the first to get to 20p

Find and complete the next sheet in your Money Practice booklet. It should say 'Draw 1p, 2p or 5p coins in the bags' at the top.
Challenge: Use as many 2p coins as you can each time.

Log onto SumdogI have set some 'Let's practice money' work for you to do this week.

Y2 Maths

Before we start with today's problem, let's practice counting using money.

1) Ruby and Sam have been saving more money. Here is a picture.

Can you work out how much money each of the children has? My friend used multibase to help. Write your number sentences, drawings, workings out and answers in your journal and we will do this problem together in a minute.

2) Now they want to know what coins they could use to make these amounts. Can you remember what coins we have in the UK?

I don't want my purse to be too heavy so try to use as few coins as you can.

My friend said she could make 25p using only 2 coins. How did she do that?

Challenge: 1) What is the fewest number of coins you can use for each amount?
                   2) Is it possible to make 74p with only 2 coins?
                   3) Show more than one way to make each amount.
                   4) Use as many 20p coins as you can.

Let's go through the porblems together. Watch the video below.

Todays pages in your Maths No Problem book are p23 - 24.

Log onto https://charanga.com
Click on Assignments then Zootime – Step 1
On the right hand side you will see 4 activities that you will be doing each day this week. Today click on the fourth activity ‘Perform the song - Zootime’. You could use a pot as a drum or a box of beans as a shaker. Play and sing along the song. Have your own concert!

Topic

Look around your house or farm. I wonder how things have changed over the years. What did people do before we had televisions, computers, phones, washing machines, cars, electric or gas cookers? What can you find out? Try helping your family to cook dinner and imagine what it would have been like without your electric or gas cooker. Offer to hoover your bedroom. How would children have cleaned their bedroom without a hoover?
If you want to you could write about what you have found out or draw a picture, make a recording or video.
Walter has been talking to his grandparents and has sent in some amazing photos of life on their farm in the past.

Butterfly Garden Update

If you look carefully at the first picture you can see the wings of the butterfly in the cocoon.

Other Things
What else are you doing at Home School? If you see something you like have a go!

How much money can your paper bridge hold without breaking?

Tom Henry has been having fun looking at coins from different countries and locating them on the map!

Do you have coins from another country?

Taking time out, enjoying the sun and having fun!
